Clothes by Numbers

Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair obviously brings shoes to mind, however the Swedish label is more about beautifully patterned, experimental tailoring through men's and womenswear. They have a more 'commercial' line, but Shoe Repair by Numbers is their unique, one-off bespoke diffusion line which quite simply takes my breath away. They concentrate on draping and construction techniques, playing with traditional methods of pattern cutting. As the name suggests, each hand-made one-off piece is numbered adding a couture, collectible value to the work.

I have a not-so-secret obsession with shape and silhouette, and although the pieces couldn't be worn to your local Tesco, their aesthetic beauty is mind boggling. They actually remind me of the lighting section in Habitat...which you wouldn't think was a positive thing, however in my Uni days I spent most weekends aimlessly wondering the Bournemouth store! I am really starting to take note of the Scandinavian designers as the recent wave begin to dominate editorials this side of the shore. The Swedes, Danes and Norwegians are the Japanese of this decade.
