Miu Miu Sequin Shoes

Miu Miu Sequin Shoes, 390.

What a beaut!!!! Who ever thought that sequins would look so good on a pair of shoes?! Absolutely gorgeous pair of shoes.

Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere Grey Sculptural Ankle Boots

Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquiere Grey Sculptural Ankle Boots, (price on request).

'Sculpted' is just an understatement for these statement shoes. These can only have been designed by an Architect....cue 'Nicolas Ghesquiere'! I bet these shoes even have a blue print. So ladies tower tall in these gorgeous boots.

Mulberry Riding Boots in Black

Mulberry Riding Boots in Black, 604.

This Autumn/ Winter, be seen in only the best shoes on offer. I love these Mulberry Riding Boots. These would be perfect with pants tucked in them or skinny jeans.

Off to Nice

I'll be back on Tuesday! Have a good time!

Congratulations, Kenley

Your inspiration was a tiled wall in Times Square that you interpreted as a pattern with lines demonstrating movement. You took many risks this week and you were rewarded: you used a vibrant print, you used close-fitting, puffed sleeves and you used a asymmetrical retro silhouette to show your point of view with a nod to your photograph. This could have been a disaster in less-than-skilled hands but your meticulous finishing coupled with a fresh take on tulle charmed and surprised the judges. This was not, as Tim feared, a costume but a chic, young look suitable for a night in the city that never sleeps. Well done, Kenley!

BPR Love for Emily Brandle

This week the results were a surprise and our readers are likely to not agree with the judges. Like the winner, you took a risk - you selected electric colors and created exuberant ruffles across the front to simulate the look of neon blurred in your photograph. It seems that your biggest sin was the placement of the fabric embellishments on your little black dress. No one can say that you played it safe and your dress was playful, saucy and vibrant clearly showing your aesthetic. You exited having shown strong pieces and left us wanting to see more, knowing that as an established designer, we will see it.

This post is only for positive words for Emily Brandle or her work. If you have anything negative to say about her or another designer, please click here.

i had the most fabulous day!

yesterday was the first day after my last exam which felt more heavenly than a bathtub filled with candyfloss. i slept in, had breakfast, watched 2 episodes of project catwalk online, used my newly-gained inspiration to tailor one of my 'not-bad' dresses into an 'oh-my-god-where-did-you-get-that' dress, stepped out for a stroll around brick lane, found 2 pairs of amazing black vintage heels for 5 pounds each, enjoyed a nice glass of wine at home and eventually got dressed up to finish the day glamourously at ever so fab sing-a-long, ueberkaraoke night at the electricity showrooms. my interpretation of alanis morrisette's 'you oughta know' reminded me of my teens when i sang angry punk rock songs in a band with the hottest boys of Wolfen - that small town in east germany we all called home then. those were the days...or actually, these are the days.

Mulberry Suede and Patent Brogues

Mulberry Suede and Patent Brogues, 325.

I love these Mulberry lace-up brogues. I so so love the bright colours which will contrast well with knee-high socks to give that Agynes Dean look.

The Jonathan Kelsey for Mulberry collection will be available August 15th exclusively in Mulberry stores and online at mulberry.com

Tweed or Tartan???

Tweed or Tartan.... I can't seem to decide which I like best. While many people find tartan a controversial fabric, it is only controversial when you wear it from head to toe. A touch here and there will spice up your outfit.

Marni Tweed Platform Shoe, 317.

Manolo Blahnik 'Zione' Tartan Shoe Boot, 430.

House of Holland (price on request).

Ralph Lauren Collection Tartan Boot, 490.

just when you thought...

..you do not like green and especially not on a tight mini-skirt that you thought had been forever banned to the 90's and died with them. and you could have sworn that you'd rather cut your wrists before you would ever wear a sun visor before the time you turn 80. and you most definately would have bet your firstborn on the fact that noone really could ever pull off a big golden bag. well, until you met this girl maybe.

Didier Ludot

If you like vintage, you must go to Didier Ludot if you ever are in Paris. It's the best vintage shop in Paris and there is no doubt about it. They have vintage Haute Couture, as seen in the second picture -if you are able to see through the grille-. They have Manolos in good condition, despite I think it's insane -and I know a lot of people are going to hate me for this- buying vintage shoes because shoes are adapted to each foot and it's not good wearing shoes which have been worn before. They have bags by Herms and tweed Chanel suits. The shop is small, chic and worth it, it's the ultimate vintage paradise in Paris.

While We Wait...

Hey - its longtime friend of BPR and jewelry maker to the stars Ken Fron on the Vegas strip showing off his new Jay McCarroll t-shirt. Hi Ken!

Here's an interesting article from Advertising Age talking about Bravo's partnership with the talent agency Pangea to represent its former reality show stars...

Nina Garcia is making waves at Marie Claire and she hasn't even started working there yet!

Michael Kors loves Shear Genius! And speaking of Shear Genius - tonight is the much anticipated Charlie's Angels challenge. We've got it all covered at BSG, come on over to our party tonight after Project Runway!

Balenciaga BABY!

Balenciaga's Spring/Summer 2007 runway collection gave us a sneak peak as to the future of the Paris fashion houses eyewear collection. Once Balenciaga's robotic crew of models marched their way off the catwalk, not many celebs took note of the house's sunglass launch.
However the eternally chic women of Paris embraced the new collection with open eyes. The collection features a mix of sporty, futuristic and old school vintage styles. The eternally chic French Vogue Editor, Carine Roitfeld, feel in love with one particular Balenciaga pair- the BALENCIAGA BAL 0003/N/S.
The BALENCIAGA BAL 0003/N/S model features huge round saucer-style lenses with two-tone frames. The pair took over at Paris & Milan Fashion week and has since be featured on many celebrities including Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway, Elisha Cuthbert, Kate Walsh and Rachel Zoe.
This pair is definitely big and beautiful. If you love vintage glamorous style sunglasses, you can purchase an authentic pair of these sunglasses on Otticanet for $265.

Project Courtroom: The Saga Continues

More juicy details have emerged from the ongoing legal battle between NBC Universal and the Weinstein Company over the Project Runway franchise. Get this:

In testimony in N.Y. State Supreme Court this month, movie/TV mogul Harvey Weinstein told the judge that the fashion mentor (Tim Gunn)wasn't paid anything in the show's first season.

Thats right, Tim worked for Harvey free of charge! Season 2 may have brought him fame, but not much fortune:

The second season wasn't much better for Gunn: He got only $2,500 per episode, according to testimony in the court battle, which pits NBC/Universal against the Weinstein Co., which owns "Project Runway," over taking Heidi Klum's popular show from NBC's Bravo to Lifetime.

The Weinstein Company got Tim on the cheap. But wait, there's more...

NBC/Universal president/CEO Jeff Zucker also took the stand in the court session. Zucker, who is supposedly friends with Weinstein and attended his wedding to Marchese designer Georgina Chapman, was questioned under oath about an e-mail he'd sent telling Bravo execs to show marathon reruns of "Project Runway" in the same time slot that Lifetime plans to air the new show's season in November. He was proud of the plan, explaining, "I'm a competitive guy."

Ahh - the ruthless business of broadcasting. One day you're toasting the groom, the next you're planning his ratings demise. The bright side: we'll have plenty of Runway to choose from come November! Of course Harvey had to go and get personal:

Weinstein also testified that he "disliked Bravo management." That would surely mean Bravo/Oxygen/iVillage chief Lauren Zalaznick. More than one source used the H word in describing the relationship: "They hate each other."

Now, we've never met Harvey Weinstein and are pretty sure that we would cower and run if it did occur, but we have met Bravo's Lauren Zalaznick and can only state that she has been nothing but kind and supportive to the BPR community. How can you hate her?

Will NBC be successful in their lawsuit? Stay tuned for the next episode of Project Courtroom...

Pompidou Centre

The Pompidou Centre was the maximum exponent in the Sixties vanguards and still is a great place to see some of the best contemporary art in Paris. They open at 11 a.m. and the queue is quite long, but less than half hour, so it's ok. It's closed on Tuesdays. You can take pictures of everything you see, but without flash. I am still furious about the Valentino exhibition and the fact that they didn't allow taking pictures!

Sunday Brunch: Cool Blues

My hubby took me to a semi-fancy, romantic restaurant for brunch this past Sunday. The restaurant has the cutest, coziest atmosphere with a touch of that industrial-open-warehouse look with exposed brick walls and wooden beams overhead. We enjoy the look & feel of the place, but we really go there for the food. They have an amazing Bananas Foster French Toast, among several other yummy dishes. They also feature several traditional Southern dishes with their own little flair. This past weekend, I had biscuits & gravy for the first time (a rarity for someone who has grown up in the South).

The day looked amazing - bright sun, blue sky - but the heat & humidity were pretty rough. I think I picked this blue & white outfit to try to keep myself cool mentally. I got this skirt at BR off the sale rack when I was supposed to be shopping for my honeymoon a couple months ago. Wait, I wasn't supposed to be shopping for anything but a rehearsal dinner dress that day? Hmm...oopsie! Chalk it up as another impulse buy by the shopaholic...lol.
