The Tim Gunn Show?

Judging from your comments it is hard to imagine Project Runway without Tim Gunn. But perhaps it would be fun to try to imagine a NEW show for Tim! What network would it be on? What regular features would be included? What guests would Tim interview? Where would he go? What would he do? The BPR Team has all sorts of ideas - but we'll let you go first!

From The Mailbox

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Project Runway has inspired several other design competitions. Thanks Mary-Clare.

New Yorkers, mark your calendars for February 15, 2007:

Tim Gunn has teamed up with the East End's popular sculptor/designer Jonathan Adler to co-chair Bailey House's annual Have a Heart Auction and Party at the Puck Building in Soho. Click here for more details. Thanks Deb.

Here is a link to a slideshow of the latest from "Project Designer." The artists were challenged to design a swimsuit for the classic Vargas Pin-Up Girl, but to make it modern. Each designer was given a specific month. Thanks Chris.

Last, here is a great idea - the Tim Gunn Office Assistant!

Advice From Tim Gunn in Oprah Magazine

Tim Gunn offers some great advice in Oprah Magazine. Here are some of the highlights:

We all know that when confronted with an obnoxious and loud cell phone user, we should smile and say, nicely, "Could you keep it down?" But what if they are rude back?

Tim Gunn: I've heard this exchange with enough frequency to know that it almost always results in a hostile mess of harsh words. Consequently, I opt for the high road as often as possible: I look for a new seat, I cross the street, I bite my lip, but I don't engage unless there is no other possible option."

What do you do if a friend tells you shes going to marry the creep shes been dating?

Tim Gunn: If she is your friend, does she not already know that you think her fianc is a creep?

What do you do when somebody you are close to gives you a really ugly present and they visit often?

Tim Gunn: If its an item of clothing, you could say: I loved the sweater that you gave me, but when I tried it on, it didnt look great on me. I took it back to the store to exchange it for another size/color, but they didnt have any more, so I purchased this, and I love it just as much. So thank you again!

What do you do if a friend borrows books/clothes/DVDs and forgets to return them?

Tim Gunn: "Say to your friend, 'I was looking for my DVD of Funny Face last night, and I remembered that you borrowed it.' Or 'Have you finished reading The Devil Wears Prada yet?'"

Tim Gunn on regifting: "A situation that still makes me cringe: A colleague at Parsons was leaving to accept a position at another institution in another city. I had forgotten about her farewell party. I scrambled though the stuff in my office searching for an unopened box, the contents of which would be appropriate to re-gift it. (Why I have lots of unopened gifts is another story) Voil! I found a sterling silver Tiffany pen that had been presented to me after judging a city-wide design competition. I relished her gush at the sight of the signature blue box and white ribbon. She opened it, and looked at me tearfully and said, 'You even had it engraved.' Oh, no. 'Best wishes from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.' Re-gifting can be very dangerous, indeed.
Thanks Lea.

Reminder - Andrae Loves Revolving Doors!

You're among friends here. Admit it - ever since Season 2, when you go through a revolving door you think of Andrae. You may even find yourself 'doing an Andrae' or, at the very least, WANTING to do his signature moves. We're more than willing to be your enabler and provide the perfect excuse to capture your best efforts on video: 'Smilefest 2006,' Andrae's contest. Click here for the details.

Be Back Soon!

Hey guys!

Well, I hate to disappoint, but I'm going to have to wait until this Sunday to post the contest entries, winner (who will be chosen on Sunday), and new featured designer. I'm taking off tomorrow afternoon for a huge 3 day craft show where I'll be working 12 hour days trying to sell my fab jewelry designs. I have to finish getting all my stuff together tonight, pack up my car, work a half day tomorrow and take off...then tomorrow night, I'll prolly spend an hour or 2 setting up and then...it's showtime!

The good news is that since I won't be drawing the winner till this Sunday, you guys can still email me contest entries.

Oh, and since comments are moderated on SA, I may not be able to publish those till Sunday either, due to limited email access. I may have some email access during the show, but hopefully I'll be too busy selling stuff to post much ;)

Have a great rest of the week!

:) D

An Update on Angela

Dear Scarlett,

Wow- what a posh, fantastic week and a half!
I was lucky enough to join tim on his tour of Macy's, previewing INC's spring 2007 line. We met hundreds of fans in each location- Tim invited me to do the Q&A with him before each fashion show, which was great fun. After the fashion show, we signed autographs and took photos with 75 lucky winners in each location. Macy's did a bang-up job of hosting Tim and me; we stayed in the W hotel and had limo service everywhere. Tim was, as always, incredibly debonaire and gracious to his adoring fans. Although all the pampering was a complete and total blast, quality time with Tim was the best part!

take care!

angela

Season 4 Sans The Gunn?

Ever since Maureen Ryan from the Chicago Tribune broke the story about Tim Gunn not yet being under contract for S4, others have piled on. Entertainment Weekly picked up on the story here, we've seen it on other websites, and we keep getting e-mails asking the same question: can it be true?

Here are the salient pieces from Mo's interview:

Ever the modest one, he would only say he "makes no assumptions," but he would come back "in a heartbeat" if asked.

If asked? But wait, there's more:

"Parsons pays my bills," said Gunn, who is chair of the school's fashion department. If the show wanted to start up before then, "Good luck to you," was Gunn's reaction. He also noted that the school just wouldn't have room for "Runway" filming until the academic year was over.

Clearly, negotiations for Season 4 are going hot and heavy as we speak. Sponsors are being signed, contracts are being negotiated, Andy Cohen's catering preferences are being tended to, among other details. The above statement however tells us that there is some effort on behalf of Weinstein/NBCUniversal/Bravo to roll out S4 before next summer. But it can't be filmed at Parson's until May at the earliest with a likely July 2007 premiere.

Unless they choose to go elsewhere. Unless they choose to leave Tim behind. Dare they?

Runway News

This is a big day for Canadian Runway fans as the Season 3 finale debuts tonight on the Life Network. Of course, if you are reading BPR, the outcome has long been spoiled! Here's a great article from the Toronto Star that features a new interview with Tim Gunn and how Canada has becomed hooked on PR. Thanks Deb.

BPR reader Maritza noticed this article in a Puerto Rican newspaper that features the beautiful Marilinda modeling for designer Carlos Alberto.

You can now buy the Macy's INC outfit designed by Angela Keslar at Amazon, and at a big discount! Sounds like a great gift for a fellow Runway fan. Thanks Katie.

Everyone is asking if Laura Bennett has delivered. Still no news....
