it's Me ELOISE

I've rekindled my love for the Eloise books. Yesterday evening, I found my copy of Eloise: The Ultimate Edition and read it cover to cover. When I was 6 years old, I found the books funny and entertaining but I never came to appreciate the whimsy and free-spiritedness of little Eloise. Re-reading Eloise at the Plaza, Eloise in Paris, Eloise at Christmastime and Eloise in Moscow made me wonder why I hadn't taken a cue from The Plaza's favorite girl and grasped each day as an opportunity to simply do fun stuff regardless of how stupid I might have appeared to others.

I kind of want to be Eloise.

When Yves Saint Laurent was working for Dior, he actually designed out a dress for Eloise. If you look closely, the sketch appears in the right hand corner on the piece of paper Nanny is holding.

In honor of my recent Eloise binge, I decided to follow in the steps of Yves Saint Laurent/Dior and sketch my own design. I tried to imagine a teenage Eloise and incorporate some of her signature attributes (the pink hair bow, etc) into a more "mature" ensemble.

Skipperdee the turtle. (Note: I am aware that the leg crossing behind the one in front looks a little odd.)

Oooooooo I absolutely love Eloise!
