The wonderful world of Vuitton
Grazias accessories editor Louise Cavanough gives us the scoop on her fabulous fashion finds
Upon entering Sydneys Establishment bar on Friday afternoon, market editor Anouk, junior fashion editor Peter and I were invited into Louis Vuitton designer Marc Jacobs fantasy of Parisian nightclub glamour.
Champagne flowed as we were treated to a celebration of the French muses, models, socialites and fashion mascots of the 1980s.
The collection was far more impressive in the flesh (or should I say fabric?) than it was online. We saw lace dresses, puffball skirts and even a pair of bejewelled leggings Peter was specifically instructed not to try these on, but well see if he can obey orders when they hit our fashion cupboard further down the track
Oh, the accessories! There were gold boots so high theyd skim the bum of the leggiest model, hot pink studded clutches to die for and metal necklaces in shocking colours, inspired by childrens paper chain necklaces.
We were also invited to customise our own Louis Vuitton bag using the new online ordering system: you can choose from one of the classic monogrammed bag designs and then select your initials, which are then printed onto the leather - with a three-letter limit, our Grazia bag was dubbed GRZ.
The world of Vuitton was one of extravagance, excess and all things over-the-top and ridiculous. And we loved every minute. The only question left: when can we go back?
