Misia Sert (1872-1950)

It is incredible how much fashion owes to Misia Sert, despite she didn't care much about it. She was best friends with Coco Chanel, and the responsible of introducing Coco in the demi-monde Parisien. She was muse and she inspired people such as Renoir, Proust, Cocteau, Picasso, T. Lautrec or Apollinaire. Coco said "Misia never read a book"; however, she was always surrounded by people who were pure culture. She is the best proof of how fashion and art are combined irreparably. Coco Chanel made up Twentieh century's fashion, for the most part, thanks to her. Misia introduced her the big names of the Parisien society, and with them, she increased hugely the opportunities that Coco had to succeed.
Misia was married three times, one of them with Edwards, a very rich man whose fortune allowed her to become a sponsor for dozens of artists. She died alone and still in love with her last husband, Jose Mara Sert -he was a Spanish artist- despite they were divorced.
