Adidas House Party

Now we all love that T-Mobile advert with people getting down at the train station but another commercial that has grabbed my eye is the Adidas house party. The three striped brand is celebrating 60 years in the business by throwing a huge house party and inviting celebs such as David Beckham, Estelle, Russell Simmons, Kevin Garnett, Missy Elliott, Katy Perry, The Ting Tings and skate boarder Mark Gonzales. Performing at the event are Norwegian hip hop band, Madcon with their hit single, Beggin. I really love the pop cultural references in the ad such as the graffiti, kids on skate boards and also on motorbikes. The ad is directed by Nima Nourizade who has made music videoa for Lily Allen and Mark Ronson. The advantage to Adidas not being as huge as Nike is that they hold a sense of allure and individuality. This gives them a sense of coolness that Nike could never match hence their strong affiliation with hip hop. The concert where Run DMC got everyone in the crowd to wave their Adidas sneaker in the air is legendary.

Check out the prologue of the advert below where we see the celebs being invited to the jam.

This scene below is where Kevin Garnett is challenged in a card game - the break dancing scene at the end is wicked.

It does make me wonder where creative agencies will go next with their concepts, they seem to be pushing the boundaries a lot and coming up with amazing stuff like the Virgin advert that never fails to blow me away every time I see it - which I wrote about here. Combine that to the T-Mobile ad that always makes me smile and the glamorous Marks and Spencer ones and adverts have become a lot of fun to watch. Spot al the celebs in the adverts and let me know if I have missed anyone out.

Victoria & David Flash their Excess!

Victoria Beckham flashed her money during her son's soccer game this week. She dressed to the nine and halves in a Prada print dress, classic Orange Hermes Birkin bag, DvB sunglasses and Jimmy Choo high heel sandals.
Her outfit gave me instant deja-vu to late 2007, when Victoria wore the exact same outfit as she headed out of Heathrow Airport with her Spice Girl pal Melanie Brown. She didn't even miss it up a little.

While Victoria was flashing her designer goods in one direction, David Beckham showed off his $600,000 Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead coupe, as he picked his children up from school. He was also escorted by two security vehicle. If this is not screaming for attention, i don't know what is. Over the top? I think so...

Beckham Likes the Booty

ahhhh you thought no one would notice didn't you Becks?? Here's a picture of David Beckham checking out the bootilicious offerings at yet another Basketball game. He seems to love the curvy types...

Speaking of the curvy types, Victoria Beckham (*cough, cough*) celebrated her 34th Birthday last week with a fine list of celebrities including Eva Longoria, P.Diddy, Katie Holmes & Kate Beckingsale. Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise wore sunglasses at night to shield themselves from the harsh UV rays of the moon?? Katie being the loyal friend she is, wore Victoria Beckhams DVB 3 sunglasses.

It was kind of random that Gwen Stefani & Usher showed up, but not one Spice Girl was in attendance...hmmm

Victoria Beckham makes Losing Glamorous

Victoria Beckham would have to be one of the most glamorous Footballer's Wives, in the history of the sport. Victoria Beckham sat VIP, as she watched her man, David Beckham play his 100th cap for England.

She wore a sophisticated Antonio Berardi calf length printed dress in grey and black teamed with a black fur bolero. She accessorised with Louboutin pumps and a Hermes Birkin Bag-both in shades of purple.

Although England lost, the family showed their support by watching the game at Stade de France, followed by dinner at Baccarat Restaurant in Paris, France.

My Adidas

The iconic brand of Adidas have launched a new advert that traces the history of their trainers. The commercial, which airs this week sees Adidas creator, Adi Dassler in his workshop coming up with dynamic concepts. The short memorial goes on to feature other Adidas icons such as Muhammed Ali, Run DMC and Bob Marley. Now I am not a real trainer fan, in fact I have had the same pair of trainers for the last seven years; the Adidas original with three stripes. I bought them on a vacation in Sydney and these ones were white with light green stripes. To say that trainers are big money these days would be a complete understatement, the whole sport industry is worth gazillions. Nike is the big player of course with other brands following suit such as Reebok, Converse, Puma and of course Adidas. Apart from the Nike store which I really like having a browse through for inspiration, Nike does not really do it for me. I find their approach a bit too generic and their clothes very overpriced and unoriginal. I do admire their marketing tricks and find a lot of their adverts very engaging. The brand that is after my heart is Adidas as they represent everything that Nike isn't which is more edgy and slightly elusive. Basically Adidas is the Apple of the sportswear market and has a vintage image that was gained from the early days of hip hop. Rap legends, Run DMC were avid supporters of the brand and even penned a song called 'My Adidas.' Since then the brand has been through leaps and bounds and they broke through during 1998 when they produced some amazing adverts starring footballers Zinedine Zidane, Alessandro Del Piero, Patrick Kluivert and David Beckham. Those adverts were beautifully shot and very dramatic. A few years later they followed with the basketball adverts where the likes of Vince Carter showed off some breath taking skills. Adidas was here to stay and they were not going anywhere. Since then Adidas have had a mouth watering list of sports stars on its roster such as Patrick Kluivert, Anna Kournikova, Zinedine Zidane, Kobe Bryant, Sergio Garcia, Donavan Bailey and of course David Beckham and they have all made their mark.

I have been wearing my old Adidas quite a bit lately on my way to and from work as my poor feet cannot do heels 24/7 anymore. Last year I decided that my old pair were a but beat up and went looking for a replacement. I saw a really nice pair of white ones with pink stripes, yeah really girly girly but I liked them. I was expecting to pay around 50 but I was surprised when the sales assistant told me that they had been reduced to 19.99. Not bad eh. The problem is that they are sooo white that I am kind of scared to wear them. I mean we are talking pristine white here At the moment they are still in the cool blue box that they came in till I pluck up the courage to put them on.

Notable magazine covers

Cate Blanchett is the cover girl of contemporary fashion magazine I.D's December issue, and my does she look exquisite, so exquisite in fact that she doesn't even look like herself.

Not that I'm saying Cate Blanchett is not exquisite, she is definitely one of Hollywood's top beauties, but this cover looks so high fashion, which just goes to show you the multi talent, that is Cate Blanchett-an actress, a spokeswoman, a mother and now a model.

One could only dream of possessing a fraction of the talent that Miss Blanchett has.

As for David Beckham's Arena magazine cover, nothing much going on there besides his absolutely gorgeous looks, sex appeal and well, he is my eye candy of choice ;)

Intimately Beckham Night

The Beckham's have a new fragrance called Intimately Beckham Night, but why do these two always see the need to exploit their relationship and prove to us that they do in fact have a sex life...stop it already...it's torturous seeing David Beckham intimate with someone else when you've got a massive crush on him!!

Naomi Campbell wearing DVB sunglasses

Fellow Britanian and world renowned supermodel Naomi Campbell is another celebrity sporting Victoria and David Beckham's brand of DVB Style sunglasses.

First it was Posh, Jennifer Lopez and David sporting them, but now it seems that Miss Madhouse Naomi Campbell is wearing them too.

It surprising to me that she's even wearing them considering the public fall out between Naomi and Victoria a couple of years back when Naomi asked Victoria "Why do they call you posh?" and Victoria snapped back "Why do they call you beautiful?" Ouch talk about defensive!

Anyways they look good, but it's a shame that she had to go wreck the look with that obvious weave on her head!!

If you love these uniquely stylish 60's inspired candy striped (DvB 2) sunglasses, you can purchase them online at Shop Intuition for $280 a pop.
