I just watched Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop." I honesty can't tell if it is a "true story" or a manufactured hoax. I was, and still am, a huge fan of Banksy before seeing the film, and his art is all about making us think about how we cannot see and realize what is right in front of us. Just because the film is touted as a documentary certainly wouldn't stop Banksy from staging the whole damn thing. When asked if Banksy hired him as an actor, Thierry Guetta/Mr. Brainwash dodged the question and offered suspicious answers. But then, Shepard Fairey swore that the movie is 100% true. This is making my brain explode. And then again, that is probably Banksy's motive, to leave people scratching their heads, pondering the complexities of it all.
