BPR Top 5 Looks: 3rd Place
You almost can't help but smile whenever you see Kayne Gillaspie. The Tennessee native brought a lighthearted spirit and exuberance to the Season 3 cast that made him instantly likable. His personality often carries over into his design work. As a pageantwear specialist, he loves adding extra sparkle to his garments that make them unmistakably Kayne.
In Iconic Statement, the tables were turned on the 10 remaining designers. The models not only chose which designer they wished to work with, more importantly they were charged with picking out a fashion icon on whom the design would be based. Kayne's chatty model Amanda chose the perfect muse, Marilyn Monroe.
Kayne returned from Mood with black lambskin leather, nude stretch lycra, and a black sheer stretch mesh. "I kind of wanted a Marilyn Monroe meets Gwen Stefani, their love child kind of thing", he said. Not exactly an image that might conjure up beautiful fashion, but he certainly made it work here.
Kayne fashioned a stunning full-length evening gown that screamed Hollywood glamour. Amanda's walk and styling made this design completely believable as a modern day version of Marilyn Monroe. On a runway filed with several other strong designs, Kayne narrowly missed the win in this challenge. But he finished high with all of you as the 3rd place finisher in the BPR Top 5 Looks of Season 3. Congratulations Kayne!
