Summertime

Today is the first official day of summer. Not that this is the official, official first day of summer. I haven't any idea when that is. I could Google it, but I don't really want to. The point is that it finally FELT like summer to me today. I don't know why today; it's not like there haven't been other sunny, summery, wonderful, skirt wearing, ice cream eating days, but today just felt like summer. Actually, I know what it is. I had lunch on the terrace at Somerset House this afternoon (gin and tonic for starters; fig, roasted tomato, buffalo mozzarella, and rocket salad for the main). Unfortunately it isn't the sort of place you go for the food, rather for the scenery. Someday someone will get the balance right and we'll have a caf/restaurant with superb food and scenery, but alas, until then, I'll make do with feeling like I'm at a very civilised version of one of Gatsby's parties. The terrace itself is wonderful and for those who haven't been, you really are missing out on one of the hidden-ish pleasures of London.

But I'm getting sidetracked here. Summer. Somerset House. There wasn't anything particularly summery about my terrace lunch, though it was pleasant enough. But when I walked through the main courtyard it slapped me in the face. All the screaming, shrieking children running around like Tasmanian devils, playing, crazed and half naked in the fountains. It took me a second to place the smell. Ah ha! Chlorine! If there is one smell that sums up summer for me, chlorine is it. A childhood spent almost entirely in swimming pools is to blame for this curious Pavlovian response. Chlorine = summer.

And now, after all of today's exertion, I'm going to watch a borrowed DVD of Transformers. Because perhaps even more than chlorine, nothing says summer quite like a really crap film.

The LBD gone sequin Crazy!

The classic Little Black Dress, has gone sequin crazy as of late and it's a great thing! Designers such as Chanel and Oscar De La Renta have added shimmer and shine to an otherwise simple dress.

Sequines make these short summer-night dress' a lot more glamorous, and are definitely grabbing fans across Hollywood from the likes of celebrity off-spring Rumer Willis to regular rehab visitor Lindsay Lohan!

Nicole Richie in Tom Ford Anouk

If you're going to follow someones lead when it comes to choosing the most fashion forward sunglasses, look no furthur than Nicole Richie. Miss Richie is crazy crazy crazy about her sunglasses, and has recently chosen to wear the gorgeous Tom Ford Anouk TF 57 sunglasses.

The cat eye look will definitely make a comeback over the next few years thanks to this fabulous creation by Tom Ford and with celebs like Nicole Richie wearing them they are sure to sell out fast, so snap them up while you can...they are worth every penny.

Anyways if you like them, you can buy them online at eLuxury for $300 or Bloomingdales.

Paris Hilton at Kitson

Paris Hilton was at Kitson during the week with fans to help raise funds for charity, with 20% of proceedings going to her current favourite children's charity.

I can't help but admire how sweet Paris has been looking of late. She looked very glamourous with her oversized sunglasses, super-long blonde extensions and GET THIS> she was wearing a dress from her own collection, and i must say i really like it. The length, the color and the coin-like effect it presents.

All in all, it still looks like she has alot of fans with a massive crowd swooning around her as soon as she exited her car!

Angelina Loves her Dolce and Gabanna Sunglass'

Angelina Jolie is undoubtedly one of the world most stylish and beautiful women, but one thing she isn't is a fashion victim.

This can be seen in her ability to stick to her own personal style, without a stylist and wear a pair of signature designer sunnies all summer long, without having the need for a whole wardrobe's worth unlike Hollywood's young starlet's like Lindsay Lohan.

I'm really loving her Dolce and Gabbana 6006B sunglasses which are oversized, black, with a subtle DG logo which are charateristics of a timeless pair of sunglasses.

If you love them, they can be purchased on otticanet with prices ranging from $211-$223 depending on the color you choose.

Paris Hilton in gold one-piece

Paris Hilton really embraces trends doesn't she? Well who can blame her when she looks this good in a one piece cut-out swimsuit, beaded wrap, gold necklace and gold aviators. She looked much the heiress at a party held at her Malibu home during the weekend.

And i think she might actually be getting a maternal side, after hearing news of BFF Nicole Richie's Pregnancy.

Juliette Lewis in red Latex pants

Hmmm, the V Festival held in England this week brought with it many creative and out-there outfits...some good, some not so good. But there's one outfit that i don't know whether i like or hate.

Celeb Juliette Lewis, decided to let loose and wear a hot new trend-Latex leggings. But I'm not sure if I'm into Bright red Latex. She teamed the pants with a black vest, headband and ankle boots. Perhaps it just looks a little crazy due to the fact that she's standing next a surprisingly refined and polished looking Kelly Osborne in all black.

I don't think I'll be wearing red latex leggings anytime soon, but props to Juliette for trying something new.

Celebs swiming in underwear WTF?

I don't get this, why do celebs think it's ok to go out swimming in their underwear?!? Us mere mortals don't find the need to do it, so what makes them think it's fine.

Swimsuits were designed to go swimming in and I'm sure they can afford to get themselves pair or two-hundred, but it seems like the likes of Britney Spears and Michelle Rodriguez don't mind swimming in their panties in the middle of the day, while in the end they're just going to get mocked for it.

I suggest they find some cute little swimming suits to avoid themselves the embarrassment the next time their followed around by a hoard of paparazzi!

Big Bags are hotter than ever

Big bags don't seem to be going out of fashion anytime soon, with more and more designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Fendi, Prada and Chanel creating bags big enough to fit the person holding it inside.

Let's face it, big bags are great! They fit everything you need (and don't need) in, while keeping you hands free and stylish. I'm absolutely loving Ashley Olsen's Vintage Fendi bag and Eva Longoria's snakeskin Prada bag. If they keep making them, i'll keep wearing them, the bigger the better right?

Hayden Panettiere's outfit

Wow i'm really not feeling 17 year old Hayden Panettiere's outfit in these photos. The Heroe's star, was out shopping this week in a powder blue dress that draped loosely over her body, which was more comfotable than flattering.

She teamed them with nice white accessories such as peep-toe shoes and bag...BUT don't even get me started on her sunglasses! WTF were did she get them. I get the fact that 80's inspired sunglasses are so hip now, these white frames with orange mirrored lenses look like something you would find at my local $2 shop or at a dress up party.

I think she's trying to be sophisticated and funky at the same time, but i'm just not digging it.

WAG: Colleen McLoughlin Look

Since Victoria Beckham's departure to L.A, Soccer Star Wayne Rooney's Fiancee, Colleen McLoughlin has become England's current top WAG (Wives AND Girlfriends). I just noticed her outfit that was taken this week out and about in Liverpool, England.

It must not be that hot in England at the moment considering the fact that she's sporting one of winter's must have items, a leather jacket, and i like how she's still sporting a skull scarf. Although most of you think the skull scarf is so overdone (thanks to Nicole Richie and crew), i admire the fact that she wears what she wants when she wants without tossing out purchases at the season's end.

I am also beginning to see more and more celebrities beginning to wear looser fitting jeans from the knee down, which might spark a new more comfortable style when it comes to jeans. And finally shes wearing a pair of espadrilles/wedges, which are a glamorous and need i say more appropriate day time shoe as opposed to Stilettos, take note Miss Beckham.

Eva Longoria's maxi dress

The Maxi dress trend is becoming more popular as the season continues. This time Eva Longoria has been spotted wearing a gorgeous colorful maxi dress that's perfect for summer, coupled with her Prada bag and a pair of large shades. I just think she looks fantastic.

Loving Tom Ford's Hawkings Shades

OK my current sunglass crush is Tom Ford's Hawkings sunglasses. When i was on holiday's in Oslo Norway, i first set my eyes on these beauties. I tried them on at a Optical store and fell in love with them immediately, but they didn't have them in black which i really wanted and well i didn't have a spare $500 lying around either at the time.

However, theses are the type of sunglasses that people love or hate - my boyfriend hates them, and i love them. And now i am all excited about them again when i spotted my favourite Olsen, Ashley wearing them. Perhaps i will start saving to get myself a pair, and in the time i save i can decide whether i still want them or whether something else has caught my eye.

These Aviator style sunglasses are made for both men and women so If you love them, you can purchase a pair online at Eyesave or online at Neiman Marcus for around $450 to $500.

Peaches Geldof Heart shaped sunglasses!

Many celebrities seem to be experimenting with unique sunglass styles and colors of late. First their were wayfarer's, then colored wayfarer's, then Chanel two-toned sunglasses and now Peaches Geldof has chanelled her inner child while sunbaking on the beach, by wearing cute heart shaped in baby blue.

Believe it or not, this style was actually inspired by the runways of 2006, with Moschino and Luella being the main culprits who sparked this new venture into sunglass lala land. It's defintely not a style i would wear (unless for a dress up party), but it is rather cute.

Angelina Jolie knows Black is ALWAYS the new black

Angelina Jolie knows that black is always the new black, which can be seen her countless amount of outfits she has worn over the month's all predominately black. You can't really go wrong with black, it's simple to wear, stylish, sophisticated, grown up, fuss free and can be worn over and over again without becoming tiring.

All she needs to look great is a complete black ensemble, a cool pair of shades and that gorgeous smile.

Printed Dresses

It seems that many celebs are moving away from monochrome and brightening up their summer wardbrobes with feminine summer dresses. i particulary like Katherine Mcphee's bright missoni/missoni inspired dress, while Mischa Barton's dress encompasses her true eclectic style.

A black and white print dress like the one worn by Prince William's ex-girlfriend Kate Middleton would work well layered up during the colder season's.

Although Victoria Beckham's style doesn't seem to have much variation, i think her dress and accessories compliment each other very well, i suppose it doesn't hurt to have a wardbrobe full of Herme's bags in different colors.

New York Style Apparel Web

A few things i noticed from the New York Style Apparel Web pics.

  • Love how the first girl clashed her multi-colored pastel dress with leopard print shoes in a way that is not too obvious.

  • The second girl is simple and cool with a cropped jacket and mustard top, to brighten up her skinny jeans and dark aviator sunglasses.

  • The third girl although very casual is super-cute with her short-shorts, bright summer bag, big yellow sunglasses and a very summery ice-cream.

  • The fourth girl seemed so natural. Wasn't trying and looks simply great. Curly hair, mixed colors and reverting to last years trend of the belt worn on the hips.

  • Fifth girl looks very now. High waisted jeans, peep toe shoes and a floaty top.

  • Last photo is my favourite! Love the orange shoes!! :D and the way his hair do compliments the look.

The Chanel Coco Cabas Bag

Kate Moss' favourite bag of late seems to be the Chanel Coco Cabas bag. It is an over sized Patent bag with chain straps and the iconic double C logo on it. The bag starts at $1000 depending on whether you choose plastic, satin, black or grey. However i was surprised to see Bill Cunninghams New York times artical which showed just how many people in New York alone own this bag! I like patent at the moment, but i have a fear that once the trend fazes, the shininess of the bag will just look tacky no?

Me & Wayfarer's

Today after exams i sought some retail therapy and bought myself a new leather bag, which was harder than i thought considering everything in the shops these days are a knock-off either the Miu Miu Coffer, the metallic Marc Jacobs Stam bag or a Chloe Paddington! I work at a handbag & accessories store, but they too make copies of trendy high-end bags and accessories, so i had to search hard and long.

Well, when i popped in to my store what else but a whole collections of multi-colored ray-bans were staring me in the face!! This was the perfect opportunity to test the style out. So instead of being a closed minded bitch for once, i tried a pair of black ones on (too scared to try the bright colors). I might have given wayfarer's a bad wrap from time to time, but i can understand now why people like them. They're a contrast to the over sized bug eye styles, and are kinda edgy.

My dad has a pair of ray-Ban wayfarer's from way back, but he has a sentimental attachment to them, because they were the first pair of sunglasses he ever owned and they must bring back a lot of memories, so it didn't feel appropriate to ask.
I bought myself a pair to test out and to see if i feel comfortable in them. They were only $10 so even if i decide i really hate them, then theirs no big loss and at least i tried them out right?
Well you be the judge keep them or dump them?

Kate moss Style continued

Just a few more pics of Kate Moss....um because i love her and her effortless sense of style!!
