Balmain Jeans worth the Green.

Balmain jeans have hit the fashion circuit like there's no tomorrow. Well, for some of you interested in a pair of the french fashion house's denim, there may be no tomorrow, as the jeans are flying off the rack at record speeds.
Christophe Decarnin's designs were first seen on Paris' fashion elite including Vogue's Fashion Director, Emmanuelle Alt, top model Natasha Poly and mini pop sensation Kylie Minogue. Now they've made their way across the pond and have been seen on the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Rihanna, Heidi Klum, Victoria Beckham, Ellen Pompeo, Nicole Richie and Kate Moss.

The appeal of Balmain jeans comes from their worn and torn "lived in" look which gives them that extra edge which designer Decarnin constantly aims for. However, the fact that these jeans are constantly sold out isn't the only reason they are so difficult to obtain. Some have scoffed at the US $2000 + price tag which might also act as a deterrent. No matter how you feel about this look and price tag, Balmain jeans are the hottest investment of 2009.

Trend Alert: White Maxi Dress

With Summer on the way, Jeans are being pushed to the back of the closet while floaty dresses are making their entrance. Once again, pregnant Nicole Richie has led the bandwagon into wearing maxi dresses, and this time in bright white.

Nicole Richie was seen heading for a meeting wearing a sheer white Henley dress by L'Agence with round Oliver Goldsmith Goo Goo sunglasses and a Givenchy Nightingale Bag, oh and lets not forget the requisite Starbucks. Nicole Richie also amped up the hippie luxe with a white dress and a stack of accessories as she promoted her jewelry line House of Harlow.

Lindsay Lohan was looking frail as she shopped at sunglasses store Eye Candy. She picked up sunglasses by Oliver Peoples, Tom Ford, Ray Ban and many more while wearing a Vix Crochet maxi dress.

The irresistibly cute Kate Hudson was also seen wearing promoting this trend, by wearing a Lauren Moffatt 'Bottom of the Sea' white dress with a mini 'Miss Martini' handbag by Dolce and Gabbana.

Beach Style: Lindsay in Maui

Within a decade, Lindsay Lohan has gone from being a child star, to rising star to tabloid fodder. With a stage mum, psychotic dad and bitter ex-girlfriend to deal with, Lindsay's life is all a bit Bold and the Beautiful. And what better way to get away from the drama then jetting off to Maui, Hawaii?
Lindsay Lohan & Co, which included her sister Aliana, were seen wearing nothing more than itsy-bitsy bikinis and oversized sunglasses as they relaxed in the Hawaiian sun. LL was seen in numerous different bikinis in a short space of time, including a Vix Amalfi bikini in Navy Stripe.
Later on, she was seen maxing out her Black American Express credit card at the local Fendi Boutique. She was right on trend wearing PRPS denim cut off shorts in Splatterpop with a one piece monokini style swimsuit adorned with fringe detailing around the bust.
The one piece, monokini and cut-away swimsuit was seen all over the 2007 designer runways from Chanel to Hermes and now it's finally making a mark in mainstream fashion. LL is wearing this fringe LSpace 'One Love' Swimsuit with Gucci 1813 aviator sunglasses.
Lindsay also wore a black and white striped bikini top wit black bottoms in order to let her Pink Gucci Abbey tote bag stand out. She paired it with wayfarer sunglasses and a bottle of "fruit juice", probably mixed with Vicodin...i kid.

Mean, Meaner, Meanest

"Women would run the world if they did not hate each other." Interesting words uttered from the mouth of Chris Rock but also very true. Where ever you look examples of girl on girl hate is prevalent; books, TV, film and music, we are all party to seeing young women treating each other badly. These are issues that author and educator, Rosalind Wiseman tackies in her book, Queen Bees and Wannabees where she looks at ways of handling aggressive girl behaviour. She also goes into the secret world of school cliques and breaks them down into six categories: Queen Bees, Wannabes, Messengers, Bankers, Targets, Torn Bystanders. Queen Bees and Wannabees is an important book because not only does it give us an insight into the socio-political inside of girl world it is also the inspiration for Mean Girls. Defined as a combination of Heathers meets Clueless, Mean Girls was released in 2004 to critical acclaim and is now regarded as one of the best teen films of all time. The success of the movie might have had something to do with the hotness of Lindsay Lohan at the time but Mean Girls is truly all about Tina Fey and her brilliant script writing skills.


Mean Girls was Tina's debut as a writer and actor in a feature film and I supposed you can say that it was also a semi bio project as the movie touched on a lot of things that she experienced at high school. The cast also includes performers from Saturday Night Live of which Tina is an integral part of. This teen dramady is the story of Cady Heron played by Lindsay Lohan, a teenager who moves to a new school after having an idyllic upbringing in an African country. New to the social rules of high school she finds herself an object of interest by The Plastics ie the Mean Girls who run the school. The Plastics are headed by Regina George played by Rachel McAdams and they take her under their wing and she finds herself escalating into the school popularity ranks. However, unknown to The Plastics, Cady is secretly plotting with social outcasts Janis Ian played by Lizzy Caplan and Damien played by Daniel Franzese to bring down Regina. As she becomes immersed in life as a Plastic Cady usurps Regina to become the new Queen Bee but pretty soon she gets addicted to her new found power and starts to neglect her real friends.


The character of the Queen Bee runs similar in a lot of films and TV shows from Heather Chandler in Heathers, Taylor Vaughan in She's All That and Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl. Rosalind Wiseman defines the the Queen Bee below:

"She holds the combination of charisma, strong will, looks, money, force and manipulation. She is the centre of the group not because she is well liked but because of the fear that she holds over the group. She sets all the rules and changes them to suit her own purposes."

As enjoyable and funny as Mean Girls is, the film also has a steely edge that is a tad bit disturbing. As Tina Fey describes, the film shows how girls know how to mess with each other. Talk about art imitating life.

Lindsay Lohan: Bag hags love their Chanel Bags

Lindsay Lohan's pop star career and in-demand status may be long gone, but her black American Express credit card is still in full force.
Over the past few weeks, the sexy starlet has been selfishly parading a beautiful assortment of Chanel handbags, including the classic Chanel 2.55 to the new bag-in-a-bag style Portobello to more exclusive Resort Collection styles.

There are a lot of dumb things Lindsay has done in her life, but stocking up her wardrobe with classic Chanel bags definitely isn't one of them. Unlike Lindsay's relationships, a Chanel is forever.

Beanie Babies on the loose

Last winter, stylish attendees at Paris and Milan fashion week previewed this year's coolest winter trend, the beanie. The beanie has re-emerged as a fashion must-have on Hollywood's hottest heads.
With most trends, males take a back seat while women play the field, but the beanie has men playing the fashion field too. David Beckham, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Patterson, Zac Efron and the Bond himself Daniel Craig have all added a touch of cool with this casual head gear. Starlets including Vanessa Hudgens, Lindsay Lohan and Mischa Barton opted for floppy beanies that sit loosely on the head. Pairing the look with designer sunglasses and neutral shades makes the look understated yet chic.

While Rachel Bilson, Avril Lavigne and Jessica Alba covered up their bed hair with the praticality of a beanie, others chose to make a fashion statement. Gwen Stefani wore an emerald green beanie with scarlet red lips while Katie Holmes complimented her snow white beanie with a beautiful matching woollen sweater. Natalie Portman kept it classy with a classic grey trench coat and knockout turquoise beanie.

Never has the beanie reserved for skiing and winter activities looked so trendy as these Hollywood heads prove.

Geek is Chic

Last season, L.A's brat pack brought back memories of our favourite classic geek Steve Urkel with their big shades and waist lines on the high rise.
Nicole Richie was really got noticed when she rocked out in massive Kidada for Disney Couture vintage sunglasses and high waist Sass & Bide shorts. And when one starlet wears it, the rest follow. Soon Lindsay Lohan, Hilary Duff, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson all wore the high cut. However, the preference for high waist shorts didn't stick due to it's ability to make you look like your wearing dorky "mum" shorts.
However, this summer they seem to be resurrecting themselves with the help of the same starlets that brought them in as a trend. It's great to see Lindsay Lohan wearing the same Imitation Of Christ high waist denim shorts that she purchased back in early 2006. Whilst she pulls them off quiet well, Mischa Barton has a lot of explaining to do.
Although high waist shorts are fresh for summer, yellow high waist shorts are something you should definitely steer clear of. Mischa Barton does have very alternative style, which can make you want to copy or cringe from time to time but her satin high waisters are definitely cringe worthy. She has worn high waist styles before and didn't pull them off at all, so if she can't learn from her fashion mistakes, maybe we can learn from hers.

Reality Bites

It is almost June and as far as I am concerned almost officially summer time. That means lots of sporting activities like Wimbledon, The Olympics and Euro 2008 as well as another ordeal of Big Brother. Since it launched nine years ago, Big Brother has become an important part of our lives and the sometime controversial show changed the course of TV. Gone are the days when TV bosses aired lengthy shows and period dramas and instead they have been replaced by the reality genre. According to those guys at Wikipedia "Reality television is a genre of television programming which presents purportedly unscripted dramatic, unscripted situations, documents actual events, and features ordinary people instead of professional actors." We are talking about programmes like America's Next Top Model, I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here!, Project Catwalk and The Apprentice which are competitive based. Also 'so called' talent shows like X Factor and the show that is currently tormenting the country; Britain's Got Talent. I say so called because we all know that they are shown so people have someone to laugh at. Then there are the fly on the wall shows where celebrities make the decision of taking us into their world. For some famous bods this calculating move can pay dividends; The Osbournes and Jessica Simpson for a start, but for others it can be the kiss of death. It is not just celebs who make amusing viewings thought, non entities such as Nicole Ritchie, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian and The Hills posse are now household names. Although the contrived dialogue and convenient plots in The Hills have led some to wonder just how 'real' The Hills. Still real or not real, The Hills is now the number one show in the US and top show on MTV Europe.

This popularity has prompted other celebrities to sign up for a slice of the pie. Hence uber stylist to the stars, Rachel Zoe, who has a show coming out later this year. However more pending are the shows by former Bond girl, Denise Richards who is keen to prove to the public what a nice person she really is despite a nasty divorce from Charlie Sheen and a fling with Richie Sambora; Bon Jovi's guitarist and hubby to Heather Locklear who was also a close friend to Richards. Denise Richards: It's Complicated airs on E! (Entertainment Television) later this month. Joining her is Living Lohan which shows Dina Lohan - Mum to troubled actress, Lindsay Lohan. We see her juggling her role as parent and manager to younger sibling, Ali Lohan who attempts to follow in her older sister's foot step. All I can say is that I hope that young Ali does not go down the road that Lindsay has by drinking and clubbing in excess. Reading between the lines I think we can be assured that this documentary is all about Dina. TV critic, Mary McNamara sums it all up in her review in the LA Times.

Posh & Broke love Chanel sunnies - Part 2

Lindsay Lohan back on track

I used to love Lindsay Lohan when i was in highschool. She was the quintessential cool chick, with a sky rocketing acting and music career, a sexy bod, a great sense of style and a covetable list of designer goods.

Then along came the excess partying, drinking, drug taking, boys, cat fights, partying mother and ratty friends which all led to her downhill spiral. But a couple of weeks in rehab seems to change all that in Hollywood, with magazine photoshoots, interviews and reality tv shows on top of rehab starletts lists of things to do.

Well one good thing Lindsay has done of late is, dye that ratty blonde hair she loves so much to a more natural brunette, it adds so much more class to her look. Anyways i like her outfit, it's reminiscent of the old Lindsay, but can somebody please buy Miss Lohan a pair of pants???

Lindsay Lohan Paper Magazine

As the March cover girl of Paper Magazine, Lindsay Lohan lived up to her raunchy image and every man's expectation with thigh baring dresses and scarlett lips. When i first saw her dress, it instantly reminded me of the Jeremy Scott for Longchamp Le Pilage �Stomp� Bag, no surprise seeing that Jeremy Scott was the shoot's photographer.

As we all know last year leggings, stockings and tights in all sorts of lengths, prints and colours were a big trend on the runways and in our high street stores. Black tights were great to extend our Twiggy length dresses into fall, whilst metallics made any daytime outfit pop!

But when every single store you walk into stocks leggings and your 10 year old sister and 45 year old aunt have caught on, you know it's time to retire the trend. But our former teen style icon, Lindsay Lohan, seems to have lost her magic touch (or stylist), when it comes to putting a decent outfit together.

Lindsay Lohan's shopping, partying and AA meetings have all been accompanied by lace, sheer and the dreaded unflattering spandex leggings.

Lets just hope she finds herself some pants soon.

Ashlee, Ashley and Lindsay out at Cloverfield

Young Hollywood set out this week to attend the L.A premier of Cloverfield from the likes of High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale to party veteran Lindsay Lohan.

On the Outfit Front

Ashlee Simpson looked remarkably polished and put together without trying to be all "rock-chick". The new auburn hair colour and the short magenta coat make her look radiant whilst the oversized clutch is bang on trend.

Onto the other Ashley. Disney actress and High School Music star Ashley Tidale went for all black, which was a refreshing change from her past bright, busy and slightly childish outfits. It's more grown up without all the extra fuss.

And then theres Lindsay Lindsay Lindsay! Lindsay Lohan looked more like A Lady of the Night rather then The lady of the Night with her peroxide hair and too much make-up. And it seems that she hasn't gotten rid of her beloved fake tan. Shame though, cause the dress would have worked well if she kept it simple and didn't look so pissed off.

Apparently Lindsay Lohan is getting a lot of free grub from alot of high end stores these days, such as the DVB sunglasses she was seen sporting from Victoria Beckham Dvb Style sunglass line.

A couple of months ago, seeing Lindsay Lohan wearing these sunglasses would have seen them fly off the shelves at Saks, but now she seems to have lost a little bit of her 'Lindsay appeal' because of all the drug and driving scandals she's been in.

I like Lindsay so i really hope she gets back to her acting career as opposed to shopping and being in debt.

Bras work wonders..

For those of you who thought Lindsay Lohan was super cool partying all night without a bra on and flinging her bra-less breasts at everyone, then you are surely mistaken.

The results of her actions can be seen in this photo, were at 21 her boobs are already starting to droop. Umm Lindsay, the belt up that high doesnt count as a bra, just thought i would let you know.

Celebrities Heart Tom Ford Sunglasses

Tom Ford sunglasses are making a splash in celebrity la la land. From the unfit head-shaving mother, to the socialite, to the rehab addict and back up to the glamorous women of Hollywood, everyone's in L.O.V.E with Tom Ford Sunglasses.

Tom Ford Margaux seems to be the most popular celeb choice with Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Hudson and Mischa Barton all being seen sporting a pair.

Although Tom Ford makes exceptional sunglasses, i absolutely hate the Tom Ford Anouk model that Nicole Richie and Kimberly Stewart have been seen in. The Tom Ford Anouk model was seen on the gorgeous Tom Ford Ads but the style doesn't really translate well in reality.

My Fav pairs would have to be the Tom Ford Camilla as seen on Monica Cruz (penelope Cruz' pretty little sister), and the Tom Ford Hawkings as seen on Lindsay Lohan, Ashley Olsen and Heidi Klum, they're too cool for school...

Ashley Tisdale: Maxi dress sighting

Although the weather is getting colder around the globe, in Australia it the temperatures are rising :) And it's great to get rid of months of wearing layers, to simple easy to wear outfits, such as the popular maxi dress!

Haven't worn long dresses in a while actually, especially not for casual occasions, so this summer will be a great change...but nearly every single store has an exact or pretty close copy to the Lispy Colour Block dress that Lindsay Lohan wore this summer.

Vanessa Hudgens deja vu

The more and more i see Vanessa Hudgens the more and more I'm reminded of Lindsay Lohan, especially in this photo. She's really starting to carve out her style niche, but the ballet flats, Balenciaga bag, flowy outfit, wayfarers, her misleading smile and the famous iced coffee, all seem to remind me of one of our favourite it girls back in the day...

Herve Leger Dresses

Ever since the day Lindsay Lohan turned up to the Maxim top 100 party earlier this year in a multicolored Herve Leger hugging dress, Herve Leger's dresses may have just become the "it" item to have in the celebrity world.

Since Lindsay's appearance, celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Sophia Bush and Melanie B have rocked out in his designs. Songstress Ciara even wrapped her body up in a purple and grey dress by the designer for one of her film clips, with the exact same dress later seen on Victoria Beckham at the Marc Jacobs Spring 2008 show.

Although these dresses are great, the problem with "it" items is that they quickly become the "not it" item...
