Freaks and Geeks

I've been re-watching more Freaks and Geeks because that's what you do when you're on Spring break. It's such an underrated show that was cancelled too soon there are still 6 unseen episodes that were never released. So I made Polyvore sets for the Freaks, and for the Geeks. They're not too elaborate but I like them.

Bill is my favorite character. If I had my own little group of Freaks and Geeks friends I would choose Bill, Kim, Daniel and Sam to be mah besties. Bill because he's obviously da best, Kim because she gets really cool as the show progresses, Daniel because he's James Franco, and Sam because you kind of pity him, yet genuinely like him at the same time.

don't go unnoticed

Details count. I'm pretty obsessive about things being "perfect" so I tend to pick up on the tiniest things. For one, I am constantly tweaking the writing in my posts no matter how old they are. I also enjoy filing things and chronologically organizing documents on my computer. Here are a few pieces that are a joy to own simply because of the little details that make them special (so cheesy i know).
Patchwork somethin'. I don't know what it's going to be yet, but whatever it manifests itself as will be great.
Raw silks from Joseph Abboud (my school gets boxes of samples shipped in so I jump on dat and pick out a few I like).
Espadrille flat by Michael Kors. I like the blanket stitching above the fiber espadrille bit.
Lace/Knit top by Free People. The top bit is sheer lace while the bottom is ruffled knit-sweater material.
Belt by Rebecca Minkoff. This photo does properly capture the wonder of the chunky gold studs.
Floral print fabric embossed with floral print. A double layer of flowers by Lanvin x H&M.
It's true, it's all in the details.

P.S. I haven't posted ugly shoes in months so here's a truly hideous pair for your enjoyment:

P.P.S. Happy 25th birthday, Lady Gaga!

Miss Understood

I sketched this last night...

click for more detail

I  was going for a sort of angst-y, boarding school/old money girl going through a rebellious stage. She hand-studded and painted the leather/fur jacket she spent $4,000 on. And the jersey skirt is from the Forever 21 she sneers at but secretly loves because she can pretend to be a normal teenage girl while shopping there. The patent leather Mary-Jane platforms are from her mother, who used to be a stripper but got saved by a rich hedge fund manager. She's the type of girl who would make blood oaths in the moonlight with her friends, if she had any.
Clearly, her wardrobe is hella sweet. don't mess.

I need to transfer the sketch onto marker paper and color it.

But Julian, I'm a Little Bit [Younger] Than You

The song is about Julian Casablancas. Everyone's a little obsessed. It's like bleached-hair girls performing voodoo on Barbies in a basement sitting on a rabbit-fur blanket wearing floral print maxi dresses and platform stripper shoes.

Heart Shaped Box

Nirvana reference heiiii..
I bought these Jeffrey Campbell platform wedges for Spring and I'll probably wear them tomorrow despite the fact that it's going to be less than 40 degrees when I leave for school. They're amazing.
dese make meh tall

This idea is stolen from Tavi, but I constructed a mood board out of tangible objects. I was going for a vintage meets indie-hipster-scum sort of feel. I was going to add more to it, but dinner was calling and I was hungry.
the box is heart shaped, as you probably gathered from my title.

Fashion's New Darlings are Not So Darling

I'm probably not qualified to have an official "muse," but if I was, I would definitely name Andrej Pejic and Rick Genest as mine. They are relatively new forces in the fashion industryAndrej known for his beautiful androgynous looks, and Rick for his full-body tattoos, meant to make him look like a skeleton. Andrej was signed to New York's DNA Models in late 2010 and was booked for both male and female Jean Paul Gaultier runway shows. In fact, Gaultier designed his Fall 2011 menswear show entirely around Andrej. Now, Andrej is booking campaigns and editorials for equally esteemed designers and magazines. Andrej can look so amazingly beautiful that you can't always be sure that he is a manbut most of the time, you don't care. Andrej is a fantastical mash of male and female, and that makes him all the more interesting. He's like Bill Kaulitz minus the weird music and screaming 12 year old fangirls, and also 1,000 times more alluring.

Rick Genest is another rising star in the fashion industry. After catching the eye of Nicola Formichetti, the creative director at Thierry Mugler, he was cast for the Fall 2011 Mugler runway show, as well as the embodiment of evil in Lady Gaga's video for "Born This Way." Rick was then photographed by Mariano Vivanco (and styled by Formichetti) for Vogue Hommes Japan. Some sources say that Rick is a male model, and though he walked the Mugler show, he is not signed to an agency and does not consider himself a model. But who knows what will happen once Rick gains even more recognition...Ford contract, holla!

They both inspire me.

Hi I'm Ken I'm Scary

Barbie's 50th birthday will be celebrated at French retail store, Colette, from March 9th to 28th. For the celebration, Karl Lagerfeld shot a series photos featuring a life-size Barbie posing with Baptiste Giabiconi (duh) as Ken. The photographs will be displayed at the celebration and then sold as silkscreen prints. I wouldn't want these hanging in my room, though.

so much odd

Thanks Karl, for yet another project featuring Baptiste.

Alexander McQueen Fall 2011

Sarah Burton is carrying on McQueen's legacy with flair. Her latest collection meshes feminine fabrics and edgy details. My favorite piece is a dress constructed out of lavender, tulle-like fabric, cut into fine strips and layered to create a soft, velvety looking texture. The flounce skirt and soft edges of the dress remind me of fabric floating underwaterthis juxtaposes nicely with the hardwear-heavy, futuristic ankle boots that complete the look. Gawd I am sewww pretentious.
