Hi I'm Ken I'm Scary

Barbie's 50th birthday will be celebrated at French retail store, Colette, from March 9th to 28th. For the celebration, Karl Lagerfeld shot a series photos featuring a life-size Barbie posing with Baptiste Giabiconi (duh) as Ken. The photographs will be displayed at the celebration and then sold as silkscreen prints. I wouldn't want these hanging in my room, though.

so much odd

Thanks Karl, for yet another project featuring Baptiste.

Chanel Spring 2011 Couture, Ugly Shoe Update

Now that I've taken a look at Karl's latest creation, I have to agree with everyonethe collection is marvelously light and ladylike. The fabrics used are delicate in both hue and color, and constructed into impeccably tailored piecesone of my favorites is a bolero-like jacket made out of a textured, gauzy fabric. And sky-high heels no more! Check out the abundance of flats.

And now, here are a few ugly shoes to make up for my lack of ugly-shoe posting.

Mop shoes by Marie-Louise Gustafsson

Z-Coil sneakers meant to reduce impact while walking. But will they reduce the impact when I PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE. I know I sound snobby but it should be illegal to wear these shoes.

On a completely different note, here is an amazing hand-painted tote bag I found.

Inferno Prints, Grapefruit Scrub and Baptiste Giabiconi Sings.

I ordered two prints from Black Baroque, a store on Etsy that prints images over vintage book pages, and they arrived in the mail last week. I still need to buy frames for each of them, but they are so rad!
This one is a vintage page from Dante's Inferno.
Little Red Riding Hood

Yesterday I made this Grapefruit-Olive Oil-Sugar scrub. Our fridge is in excess of grapefruits, since our neighbors offered us a full carton of them a few days ago. The scrub ended up looking like orange vomit but it worked well!
Basically, you just use a spoon to scoop out half a grapefruit. Then, pour in some olive oil and add sugar until its consistency is sort of gloopy and not too watery. It ain't rocket science.

LASTLY. Maybe I'm slow, but I just found out that Baptiste Giabiconi (ranked #1 on models.com, muse to Karl Lagerfeld) sings? He looks like a mainstream, mother-friendly version of Adam Lambert, at least in his music video for "Showtime," a painfully teeny-bopper Disney-lyrics song. The story of the video is probably what you'd expect: Baptiste meets this girl, who conveniently has an abusive boyfriend. Even though Baptiste and this girl have never spoken, but simply exchanged a few intense looks full of LOVE AND LONGING, the girl wants in with Baptiste (I mean he probably makes a lot more money than Abusive Boyfriend). So, much to Abusive Boyfriend's dismay, Baptiste runs away with her. Abusive Boyfriend has two fat cronies that help him search for Baptiste and the girl, but they don't have much luck. They're like Draco Malfoy and Crabbe and Goyle.
Also, Baptiste has superpowers that allows him to blow stuff up when his eyes glint red. I am like, sitting on the edge of my seat now because at the end of the video it says "To Be Continued" and I can't wait to find out what happens next. Karl (Lagerfeld) thinks Baptiste has a beautiful voice though, so I guess I can just suck it.

I laugh at this picture.

Paris Fashion Week S/S01: Valentino, Dries Van Noten, Karl Lagerfeld

I had such a hard time choosing my favorite looks from this collection! I loved almost every piece and would've loved to just post them all =P. It's so romantic and classy and just simply beautiful. <3

Dries always shows such a beautiful color palette and a wonderful mix of different prints. Although I liked last season better I still really enjoyed this show. I always get inspired to dress more colorful when I look at any Dries Van Noten collection. He does color in such a sophisticated yet laid back way. C'est chic!

This is very clean, very simple yet it is definitely glamorous. Loved it!

Paris Fashion Week: Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy

I'm not usually a fan of Lagerfeld but what he came up with this season for his own label I really like. The two-toned looks, the gorgeous shapes and that hilarious "face"-bag! I also really like the combination of those very structured pieces with the black tulle.

Lovely collection. A lot of nice pieces and amazing details. I think the whole show had a wonderfully positive feel to it.

Apart from the horrible mix of leather and denim in some looks I found the collection to be teriffic. You can see Tisci's signature gothic references but there's also a certain girly-ness in this collection which is a nice contrast I think.
And just how great are those black overknee boots?!!
