Rick Owens Fall 2011, Cole Mohr Makes Out With a Duck

Owens' aesthetic rings true and clear in this collection: the Gothic inspiration, experimentation with unusual shapes and silhouettes, and the abundance of muted colors. The collection is beautifully tailored no doubt, and touts an understated elegance compared to his previous work. But I wish Owens had experimented a little bit more, pushed the boundaries further, and presented something new and inspiring for Fall 2011.

On a completely different note, I took a look at Nautical Schmautical's Spring/Summer 2011 ad campaign featuring Cole Mohr, Yuri Pleskun and Ash Stymest. Best model friends forever! Yay!

And here's a shot from Azul by Moussy's S/S '11 campaign featuring Cole and Freja:

The Big Screens, The Plastic-Made Dreams

I'm cringing at myself for composing a title of song lyrics, nonetheless lyrics written by One Night Only. But I couldn't help it; I've been listening to "Say You Don't Want It" on repeat for the past 48 hours (see previous post for music video).

;)

But I digress. I received my March issues of Harper's Bazaar and Vogue in the mail on Tuesday, finally, and I took some a few photos of the stuff I found interesting (I'm still too lazy to use the scanner).

More Balenciaga Spring 2011 with Yuri and Gisele.
Why is Crystal Renn still considered "plus size?" (Also, to any of you who watched America's Next Top Model last night, why does Tyra feel the need to replace the term "plus size" with "fiercely real?" I understand that she is trying to encourage others to realize that plus size models are just as gorgeous as those who wear a size zero, but honestly? It comes off as very contrived. Can't straight-size models be "fiercely real" too? They're all human beings.)

STOP. These campaigns are not tasteful, and they do not make me want to go out and buy that sooper cyute tied crop top with the plunging neckline.

Also, the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be hosting an exhibition featuring 100 of Alexander McQueen's greatest designs! Read more about it HERE (ooh shameless self promotion). I'm really hoping the exhibition will include videos and/or pieces from McQueen's early collection, Highland Rape. The collection was shown in 1996; therefore, I was one year old and too worried about drinking baby formula and burping to appreciate McQueen's artistry. I also can't find photos or videos of it anywhere.

Models Being Eloquent

Before we get into the models thing, let me just announce that last week, Avril Lavigne released a single titled "What The Hell" (sooo cool). It's an unbearably stupid song, but I'm not going to complain because it's catchy. Click HERE to hear the mainstream happiness.

Moving on.

Listening to models speak about life and fashion and stuff is tickling. Like it's superbly entertaining. I'm not saying that in a demeaning way meant to insinuate that models are stupid or below me in terms of intellect. It just seems as though most models are charismatic in the best way possible and say things that aren't really meant to be funny but make me snort. Maybe it's just me. But you can judge for yourself based on these videos. Why do I mention models in like every post on here.

I like the part where he falls down. I play it over and over again. Just kidding I have a life...

"I'm representing the Anglo community at the Sean John show."

"I love chicken."

Listening to Tyler Riggs being arrogantly sarcastic about how tough a model's life is gag-worthy, but the beginning bit is excellent"is she saying Cole?"

More quotes that make me laugh:
"No crying in baseball, no fun in fashion."

"[The suspender] is a ribbon from a Christmas present I got, and it's just big enough to hold up my big pants. 'Cause they're too big for me. Because I am anorexic." (After this was said, the interviewer flipped out because the word "anorexic" was said in a roomful of models.)

"Feed...the blind...what they don't know what they're eating. That's what you have to do."

I think I need to get a hobby.

Yuri Pleskun in Masquerade Magazine and Just in General

Yuri Pleskun is featured in the newest Issue (issue 6) of Masquerade Magazine. And guess what! It's the Celebration Issue for Masquerade's one-year (I think) anniversary! Photographed by Yoshiaki Sekine, here are a few of the shots:

Now here is a video of Yuri being eloquent. Hooray for it letting me embed it here.

I enjoy the fact that he is not absorbed in high end designer labels and eats chicken wings from Kennedy's Fried Chicken.

Also, best fraaands with Colers and TyTy?
We iz bifflezsz

Gaah I feel like a stalker. I will probably be posting more videos of models being their eloquent charismatic selves in the near future (the charismatic part is not inaccurate btw.)
Hope y'all had a great day!

Gisele! GISELE!

I know I promised I would never completely copy my Buzznet posts and stick them on here but I can't help it because we have to propagate the news that Gisele (Bundchen, for those of you who haven't caught on yet) is the new face for Balenciaga's Spring 2011 ad campaign! And Yuri Pleskun will be appearing beside her (actually behind her, "humping" her as New York Magazine put it) as a half-naked forest nymph wearing eyeshadow! The campaign breaks in late January/early February so keep your eyes peeled while flipping through your next issue of Vogue.

I already mentioned New York Magazine's humping remark but this bit of their article was particularly amusing as well:
"But doesn't she look so youthful? And sad in that terribly fashionable way? We like this new side of Gisele. There's no better way to do postpartum than by aging negative ten years."
