From The Mailbox

A designer doesn't have to win Project Runway to become successful.

Being memorable, entertaining and likable on the show can bring many more opportunities. (I had to look up the correct spelling of likable - learned something new!)

We are looking forward to the new Laura Bennett show. It's bound to be good! Laura + Bravo + Rich Bye (producer) = Fabulous!

We also enjoyed Bravotv.com's "The Malan Show."

Another season three designer is shooting a pilot for TLC. Can you guess who? It's Kayne Gillaspie. Sounds like a lot of fun, Good luck Kayne.

A Note From Diana Eng

I just wanted to let the BPR community know that starting today I will be writing a DIY Fashion column for Craft magazine that shows how to follow runway trends on the cheap by making them yourself. My first article, DIY Fashion: Reinventing Hosiery, looks at styling hosiery for the summer drawing inspiration from Prada, Burberry, Gossip Girl, etc. All of my DIY fashions are easy and quick so that anyone can make them with any level of sewing skills.

Hope all is well,
Diana

BPR at Diana Eng's Launch Party

BPR Correspondent Nancy T attended Diana Eng's book launch party and sent us this report. Thanks Nancy!

Diana's party was sponsored by the fabulous Fashion Indie. Her DJs were Joey Mariano and Eric Skiff. Sweet treats (including chocolate-covered Poprocks!) were provided by Danielle Bilton.

Diana Eng keeps proving that Fashion Geek is not an oxymoron. On March 19, 2009, she held a release party and fashion presentation for her new book.

Friends and press crowded the chic Pop Lounge in New York, sipping wine, eating chocolate-covered pop rocks, and listening to technopop. In the center of the room were four models wearing outfits that anyone (according to Diana!) can make using instructions from her book.

Out With The Old

As 2008 grinds to a close, the news concerning Season 6 remains grim. Harvey Weinstein, NBC and Lifetime appear to be locked in an interminable legal battle over the Project Runway franchise. Heidi Klum spent this month trying to convince everyone that the show would premiere in January however Tim Gunn is not so enthusiastic. Will a New Year bring new hope?

Meanwhile, there is other news to share as we toddle our way towards 2009:

Season 5 model Karalyn West does good,
hosting a fund raiser for a lip-defect charity.

The Name's Cohen. Andy Cohen.

Season 2 designer Diana Eng is a nerd, and proud of it!

Baseball, basketball and Project Runway! Season 5 designer Joe Faris will appear at the Grand Kids Foundation celebrity charity basketball game next month.

Korto Momolu is inspirational as she speaks about Kwanzaa.

In With the New, we say!

The A-List Awards

We headed out to the Hammerstein Ballroom for the A-List Awards, picked up our tickets in the lobby (thanks Andy!) and headed for the party. The first "Bravo-lebrity" I saw was Oscar from "Step it up and Dance." Next I met Peter Shelton and realized that I should maybe get my camera out.

Kara Janx is lovely and we admired photos of Baby Dylan.

Kit Pistol and Kevin Christiana were adorable.

Here are three more of our Season Two Favorites - Diana Eng, Chloe Dao and Emmett McCarthy.
