Spring 2008: Alexander McQueen

When I first cast my eye upon the Spring 2008 Alexander McQueen show, Isabella Blow did not come to mind even though this collection was an outright ode to her fashion sense and generosity towards McQueen.

The large flamboyant bird wings on many of Alexander McQueen's pieces made me recall a purchase that blogger Agathe from Style Bytes had purchased on website Etsy. It was a large Fauna Parrot Necklace, that some may call ugly, while others, like myself, think is spectacular.

It's funny how designs from a International fashion show in Paris can make you think about a humble blogger all the way in Norway.

Katherine Heigl Emmy awards

Grey's Anatomy star, Katherine Heigl looked exceptional at the Emmy Awards this year. Wearing a very white floor dress along with loads of jewels by Ryan Ryan, Katherine picked up the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the smash hit show, and what better way to accept your award then in a body hugging Zac Posen dress?

If Christian Dior made me pick...

If Christian Dior shouted me a couple of pair of shoes and and jewelry then this is what i would pick at the moment. I love both the feather ring and silver tone flower ring. Both made from silver tone metal and with Swarovski encrusted crystals. The really do create an impact.

Whilst the Camel My Dior sandal is the perfect shoe for summer and the color and heel are classic style. I am also a big fan or chunky wedges shoes and these Dior wedges from the cannage collection are dramatic in the most discreet kind of way. They give height as well as a solid walking ground.

Paper Weight Jewellery

This season jewellery got heavy and i mean really heavy! Think bicycle tyres hanging from necks and paper weights clinging to fingers. Round was the preferred style by most designers, while other such as Marni looked to carpenters boards and sawed and sculpted futuristic shapes in ancient materials. Jewellery layering was back on the Lanvin runways reminiscent of extravagant tribal costume. Minimal outfits with heavy, bold jewellery is sure to be a knockout.
