The gold wickerwork

It is amazing how the big couturiers got their inspiration from everything. The Dior's cannage, a construction based on geometric lines which has become the brand's most successful value, was inspired by a typical wickerwork from the Fifties. When Mr. Dior saw the chairs for his new maison -at Avenue Montaigne, where his flagship store in Paris still is- he loved them. And the chairs became the inspiration for Dior's house greatest design: the cannage.

It was in 1953 when Eau Frache was launched. The bottle had been designed by Edmond Roudnitska and it was the first time they engrave the famous cannage.
