Lighten Up, It's Just Fashion.

After coming to the sad realization that the William Rast for Target collection is painfully dull, I decided to first, finish my homework, and then take pictures of a painfully shallow subject: clothes. Oh, clothes. Oh, fashion. It's such a "double-edged sword," as my mother puts it. On one end, fashion is a form of art, but on another, it's the very industry that promotes unrealistic body image and elitism through skinny models and expensive clothes. But I'm not going to pretend that I find it a burden, or complain about its double-edged sword-ishness because let's face it, it's just fashion. It's supposed to be fun. Yes, fashion is a down-to-business industry that involves Anna Wintour and Karl Lagerfeld and photographers that are caught up in their mind-blowing and riveting art, but honestly, when you get down to it, fashion is all about expressing yourself. What's so tough about that?

In the words/song of Project Runway's Santino Rice, "lighten up, it's just fashion!"

I like this collective inventory of knits and checks and pleats. It makes my closet look a lot cooler than it actually is. That reminds me of another thing: the fashion industry is cold hearted and deceitful!
boo. hoo.

Messy.

This is a print I really like; it is from a Free People dress.

Skull-tipped laces by McQueen. These are my mother's but I wanted to photograph them. So if you're my mother, I hope you're okay with your shoe being up on the world wide web.

I sewed this skirt a few months ago. Click on it to better see the zipper going across the waistband.
Vintage Coach bag my mother gave me. I like all the scuffs and scratches.

Lanvin for H&M shoe.

UGLY SHOE TIME!

Tisshoes! These shoes are designed by Masashi Kawamura and constructed out of leather, rubber and canvas cloth. They were created for an art exhibition in Tokyo. Click HERE for more pictures.
